Product Description
Drawing Die forming A die is a metal forming process in which a sheet metal is simultaneously stretched and bent over a die to form a large outline metal part. Stretch molding is carried out on a stretch press, in which a sheet of metal is held firmly along its edge by clamping jaws. Each claw is connected to a bracket that is pulled by pneumatic or hydraulic power to stretch the sheet. The metal drawing die is driven into the sheet, the edge of the sheet is gripped tightly, the tension increases, and the sheet plastic deforms into a new shape.
The horizontal drawing press mounts the forming die laterally on a fixed press bench while the claw pulls the sheet horizontally around the forming die. The tool used in this process is a stretch molded block, called a molding die, which is a sturdy outline piece on which the sheet metal will be pressed. The most common type of stretch press is vertical. Each claw is connected to a bracket that is pulled by pneumatic or hydraulic power to stretch the sheet.
